CAST and the American Vacuum Society offer awards for excellence in promoting science education in the state of Colorado. The awards are presented each year at the Colorado Science Conference, in November, in the amount of $500 each. A CAST Award and an AVS Award is selected at each of four levels: Elementary, Middle School, High School, and College/Informal. To be eligible for the CAST award you must be a CAST member in good standing. You do not need to be a CAST member to receive the AVS award. To be eligible for both awards you must be currently teaching science in a Colorado school (nominees for the College/Informal do not have to be teaching, but must be involved in science education in Colorado).
Deadline for submission is October 7, 2012

The CAST Regional Directors would like your help in recognizing individuals who have contributed to science education in the state of Colorado. The nominee may be a member of CAST but is not required to be a member of CAST.
We have many outstanding science educators at all levels in the state and with your help we can recognize them and their contributions to Colorado students. Science Salutes are a quick and easy way to recognize individuals. Consider colleagues who have improved science education, enhanced the image of science, promoted interdisciplinary links, or simply performed a noteworthy action on behalf of science education.
CAST will publish the names of all those selected in the upcoming newsletters and on the web site. Educators selected will receive a one-year membership to CAST.
You can nominate someone using the online nomination form by clicking on the "Nomination Information" link. Nominations can also be mailed to your CAST regional representative.
Nominate a deserving science educator!
