Workshop Description:
The revised Colorado Academic Standards represent a new way to look at science teaching, with 21st Century Skills playing a central role in a quest to make sure all students graduate post secondary and work force ready. With its increased emphasis on inquiry and active engagement of students along with mastery expectations, teachers are going to need to examine their lessons and pedagogy to make sure that they have the knowledge and tools needed to successfully implement the new standards.

In this full day workshop teachers will:
• Explore and use tools that can help engage students with the 21st century skills in science around data and data analysis.
• Explore ways to actively engage their students in using data to understand science concepts.
• Increase their comfort level and pedagogy in teaching Colorado’s 21st century skills using active student engagement and inquiry.
• Have the option to help train other teachers in 21st century skills at regional workshops.

Location: Denver Zoo
Cost: $20, Continental breakfast and lunch included
Credit: 7.5 hours of CDE credit
