CAST and American Vacuum Society Awards For Excellence in Science Teaching CAST and the American Vacuum Society sponsor awards for Excellence in Science Teaching in the state of Colorado. The awards are presented each year at the fall Colorado Science Conference in the amount of $500 each. The award selected at each of three levels: Elementary, Secondary, and College/Informal. To be eligible for the CAST Award, nominees must be a CAST member in good standing. The AVS nominees do not need to be CAST members. For each of the Elementary, Middle School, and High School awards, nominees must be currently teaching science in a Colorado school. Nominees for the College/Informal award consist of college instructors of science and informal educators of science. The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Vacuum Society (RMCAVS) has a website at https://www.rmcavs.org/ Applications for 2025 are due September 1st.
